- Step-By-Step
- 1) Lightly spray your favorite Shade-Tex®
Texture Plate with water, to act as a "mold release".
2) Place the flattened piece of conditioned
clay on the Shade-Tex® Texture Plate and roll the clay with
a rolling pin to emboss the texture. If using a pasta machine,
pass clay through the widest setting.
3) Peel the clay away from the Shade-Tex(®
Texture Plate and place it textured side face down.
4) Place the light switch cover face down
on the clay. Trim with 1/4" selvage.
5) Wrap the edge of the clay up and around
the sides of the light switch cover and trim it to the back edge.
6) Trim and open up the area for switch
and screws.
7) Flip the piece over and apply Pearl Ex
colors to the high relief areas of the textured design.
8.) Bake clay/switch plate as directed by
manufacturers' instructions. Cool.
9) Use the small paint brush and add a color
wash of Lumiere paint to the clay surface. Interesting effects
can be achieved by using contrasting colors. Use a damp cloth
to remove excess.
10) Allow to air dry.
11) Install and enjoy!
